The second headjoint (slightly shorter) is stamped: -Crown- Monzani, also owners stamp between the embouchure and the Monzani stamp. Fancy solid silver keys, each stamped with a "crown", solid boxwood with no cracks at all, four good bone rings and tuneable bone head caps. The longer headjoint is tuneable, but the head is not metal-lined, barrel does not move. Comes with original arched mahogany custom case. Rudall, Rose, Carte: London - England around 1860 A 150 year old antique solid silver flute, bearing the original stamp: Rudall, Rose & Carte & Co., Patentees, 20, Charing Cross, London, Boehm's Parabola, Carte's Mechanism Council & Prize Models. Solid silver, seamed tube, very light flute, a few minor barely visible dings, beautiful flower engravings around the lip plate, including original case. Boehm's Parabola flutes are very unusual, and not easy to get. Measurements: - total length 66 cm - middle of the embouchure to the end 60 cm - embouchure 1.2 cm - length of head joint 20.6 cm
Th. Boehm & Mendler, Munich An all original solid silver flute in very good condition, stamped: Th. Boehm & Mendler in München. Seamed tube, solid gold lip plate, old pads but in reasonable condition, total length 63.4 cm, length from middle of embouchure to end 59.3 cm, total length of the head 20.8 cm, middle of embouchure to end of head 16.7 cm, embouchure 1.2 cm. Probably original case. Theobald Boehm (1794-1881), a Bavarian goldsmith, flutist, composer, and industrialist, invented this type of flute that became the basis for the modern instrument a little more than a century and a half ago. Boehm manufactured his new flutes at first himself, but later in partnership with Carl Mendler, one of his best workmen, who continued the firm after Boehm's death in 1881.

Monzani & CO: London - England around 1816 A very attractive 7 keyed ring boxwood flute bearing the maker's stamp on every joint: a "Crown", Monzani & Co, also stamped on the middle joint: 24 Dover St., London, # 1215, also stamped on the foot joint: a "crown", patent keys. 7 nice solid silver keys with good springs (one is broken), each stamped with a "crown". Repaired hairline crack in the middle joint 6 cm. 3 nice rings and headcap. Comes in original mahogany flute case. Wafford: London - England around 1770-1780 Big fat 4 keyed ring mounted boxwood flute from the 18th century in nice original condition bearing the maker's stamp on all joints: Wafford. Four good original rings and head cap. Four good silver keys with good springs, need new pads. Unrestored and in good condition, nobody ever tried to improve this flute, which is a good feature. The only hairline crack I can see is under the key of the foot joint from the ring to the key mount (1/2 inch). I cannot remove the foot joint from the 3rd joint. E. G. Williams: London - England around 1820 A good 1 keyed ring mounted boxwood flute from the 1820s, stamped on all joints by the maker: E. G. Williams, also stamped "London" on the head joint. Unrepaired crack at the lower end of the head joint (5 cm), which is reason for the ring replacement. Foot joint end-ring is missing. Otherwise the flute is in unrestored original condition. Since this flute was bought from Tony Bingham, so I assume it must be this ebony and bone flute mentioned. One hairline crack at the end of the 3rd joint (2cm).

W. Henry Potter, London - England around 1809-1817 An all original bone mounted ebony flute stamped 4 times: William Henry Potter. Also stamped on the barrel joint: Johnsons Court Fleet Street London. 8 solid silver keys with pewter plugs, 5 bone rings and bone head cap, bone ring on end joint damaged, several hairline cracks in barreljoint and metal lined head. Needs restauration in order to be played professionally. Total length 67.4 cm.
